  • The arrival and popularity of filter cigarillos since 2008 helped bring about a 30.4% expansion in volumes during 2010, a 22.4% rise in 2011, an 18.3% increase in 2012 and a 4.8% increase in 2013.

  • The total tobacco products market in Sweden amounted to 12,314 tonnes in 2013. This is1.5% down on the previous year but relatively unchanged when compared with 1997.
  • The market is dominated by two categories: manufactured cigarettes and snus with 49.6% and 47.5% of volumes respectively.
  • The market for cigars and cigarillos constitutes only a tiny niche within the market, accounting for just 0.7%of overall volumes in 2013 or 41.4 million pieces.
